Ogun FRSC Bids Emotional Farewell to Late Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe

The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday held a solemn Service of Songs in honour of its late Public Education Officer, Chief Route Commander (CRC) Florence Nkenu Okpe, who passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. 

The ceremony, which took place on Wednesday at the Command's Multipurpose Hall, Abeokuta, drew dignitaries, colleagues, and friends who gathered to pay their final respects.

Notable stakeholders from the media and security agencies were in attendance, including the General Manager of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Ogun State, Mr. Onada Kehinde, and the Acting General Manager of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), Mr. Omotunde Gbenga,  Branch Controller, WAEC, Abeokuta, Mr Subaru , Rev Tunde Amushan, Asst Pastor, Govt House Chapel, led prayer for the family, management and staff of FRSC.

Also present were representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), led by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Babatunde Joshua Olubayo, the representative of the Commandant, So-Safe Corps, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, and the representative of TRACE Commander. 

Members of the Military, Police, and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum, led by Deputy Commander Akinbiyi, were also in attendance alongside dignitaries from Paramount FM, WAEC, Ogun State Television, Fresh FM, and PenPushing.
In his opening remarks, the Sector Commander in Ogun State Corps Commander Akinwumi Oladapo Fasakin, described the late Florence Okpe as a diligent, hardworking, and resourceful officer who lived an impactful life. 

He stated that her unwavering commitment to duty and excellence distinguished her throughout her career. 

“She fought a good fight, finished the race, and left behind a lasting legacy,” he said.

The service featured soul-lifting hymns and songs rendered by staff of the Ogun Sector Command, specially dedicated to honour the memory of the late officer. 
The atmosphere became deeply emotional during the testimony session, as friends and colleagues shared heartfelt tributes about Florence’s character, professionalism, and compassion.

A brief but inspiring exhortation was delivered by Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Ajayi, Lead Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Asero, Abeokuta. 

He emphasized the Christian hope of resurrection, the value of living purposefully, and God’s comfort in times of grief. 

His message encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast and draw strength from divine grace in the face of loss.
Born on December 31, 1974, in Ekumtak Mbube, Ogoja LGA of Cross River State, CRC Florence Nkenu Okpe was a devoted Christian and a passionate advocate of education. 

She pursued her academic career to the postgraduate level, earning a Master’s degree in Transport Management and Logistics from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

She joined the Federal Road Safety Corps in 1999 and rose through the ranks, attaining the position of Chief Route Commander in 2023. 

Throughout her career, she served in several state commands, including Edo, Lagos, Bayelsa, and Ogun States, where she held the position of Public Education Officer until her demise.

Late CRC Florence Okpe is survived by her husband, Mr. Valentine Emeka Okpe, and three children. 

Her passing leaves a significant void within the FRSC family and beyond, but her legacy of service, dedication, and professionalism remains indelible.
