Forum Warns GNI Over Statement on YAYI Associates

A political support group, YAYI Solidarity Forum, have warned a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, over statements he made at a press briefing on Sunday.

GNI representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon while fielding questions from journalists after reeling out his scorecard in two years at the lower house, said he had no animosity with the Senator representing Ogun West senatorial district, Senator Solomo Olamilekan Adeola and that they maintained a cordial relationship.

Isiaka however said he had issues with supporters of the senator who he alleged has maligned him and want to erase his 20 years legacy. The lawmaker further berated the associates of the senator for not winning their polling both but claiming to be relevant.

In a swift reaction, the YAYI Solidarity Forum queried Isiaka for playing to the gallery and making unfounded statements. Quoting the Coordinator of the group, Alhaji Akeem Adesola, “It is unfortunate that GNI descended to the level of directly attacking the supporters of YAYI unprovoked. No leader descends into the fray in this manner”

According to him, “It is falsehood to say YAYI supporters cannot win their polling units when indeed they delivered the highest results turnover in the history of Ogun West politics by mobilizing over 100,000 votes in the senatorial election.

The same supporters in Yewa North/Imeko-Afon delivered their units for APC in the national assembly which he, GNI, benefited from”.

“In the same 2023, election, GNI himself lost his polling unit and ward to the opposition ADC which means he did not deliver for his own party APC and the Governor, Dapo Abiodun. The records are there that APC scored 71 and ADC scored 81 in his unit 06; while APC scored 2155 compared to 2542 of ADC in Imeko Ward. It is sad that a man who lost his own unit and ward will have the audacity to attack others of losing their polling units”

The forum also upbraided GNI for saying some associates of the senator who jumped ship from him want to destroy his 20 year’s legacy. “We are surprised GNI is lamenting that people jumped ship from him to YAYI. Since when has it become a problem for people to align where they feel their interest will be better served? Did GNI himself not jump ship from different political parties and under different leaders?”

“Between 2011 and 2019, he contested three consecutive gubernatorial elections under PPN, PDP and ADC under the leadership of Senator Gbenga Daniel, Late Senator Buruji Kashamu and General Olusegun Obasanjo respectively. Under the current dispensation, he contested again. for Rep seat on the APC platform under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun; and all these makes him the most notorious ship jumper in the history of Ogun state politics”

The YAYI Solidarity Forum however advised GNI to top attacking and blaming others for his own undoings.

Adesola stated further, “GNI should stop acting more catholic than the Pope. The politics of deceit, blackmail, pity-party and sympathy peddling have been destroyed in Ogun West and we have move forward”
“We don’t know what he want to contest for in 2027, maybe it is a return to Reps or for Governor but whichever one, he should focus more on preparing for a serious primary this time and not expect a dash”. He added.
