The National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Alhaji Samsudeen Apelogun, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.

Speaking at the 15th combine convocation ceremony held at the school auditorium on Tuesday , Apelogun expressed gratitude to the organisers and those who nominated him for the prestigious recognition.

He pledged to continue working for the welfare of the people, especially members of ACOMORAN, and to contribute to community development within his capacity.

“I want to appreciate those who nominated me for this prestigious award,I will continue to do my best to uphold the reasons behind this honour. As ACOMORAN President, I have always prioritised the welfare of our members, and that’s part of why I believe this award is well deserved.”

Recounting his achievements during his tenure as ACOMORAN Chairman in Ogun State, Apelogun highlighted his role in initiating the consolidated ticketing system a development he said the state continues to benefit from.

Alhaji Apelogun also spoke about his recent return from the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, where he served as Amir Hajj, leading 674 pilgrims from Ogun State to Saudi Arabia.

He expressed gratitude for the safe return of all the pilgrims, while extending condolences to Oyo State, which reportedly lost two pilgrims during the exercise.

“To God be the glory, we left Ogun State with Bismillahi and returned with Alhamdulillah. We thank Almighty Allah that we lost no one. Any time the state calls upon me again, I will always be ready to serve, even a million times” he said.

The ACOMORAN president also encourage newly graduating students of MAPOLY to embrace self-reliance and shouldn’t be dependant.

“ They shouldn’t be dependant, they should try to be self reliance, they should think out of their box , in what way they can give back to the community and to the society, how they can make themselves self reliance.

“ They should not depend on government alone , government cannot do it alone .They should think of what they can start to do as a stepping stone, sooner or later they will get it right”.

He therefore prayed for Ogun State and Nigeria, seeking continued guidance and protection for Governor Dapo Abiodun and all citizens.
