Obafemi Owode LG Chairman Receives Newly Appointed Regency Council, Pledges Government Backing

The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA has received the newly appointed five men committee to oversee the affairs of Obafemi Town after the suspension of Oba Taofeek Owolabi Olukayode, Olu Obafemi.

Speaking at the meeting, Amb. Ogunsola assured the Regency Council of the government support and assistance whenever the need arises. He noted that the competency of the class of individuals selected for the appointment is not in doubt, as they are well grounded in terms of Traditional administration and discipline.

He further implored them to see their appointment has call to service, as they must ensure they work in accordance with constitution (Ogun State Chieftaincy law) and ensure they carry out their duties within the ambit of the law without fear or selfish gains whatsoever.

" We have been informed by the Ministry of Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Alake Palace of the formation and approval of the regency council at Obafemi Town, sequel to the suspension of Olu Obafemi, Oba Taofeek Owolabi and I want to implore you to work within the ambit of the law"

While he urged the regency council to protect the customs and tradition, as they must be cautious of the caliber of people they entertain or associate with, particularly now as many would be coming to win their favour on land related matters.
Responding, High Chief Sunday Oduntan, Asiwaju Baamofin of Egbaland assured the local government Chairman of their commitment towards ensuring the peaceful coexistence between the people living in Obafemi Town and it's environs, as they will work together with the government in bringing back the lost glory on land tussle.

He also stressed that the interest of the people will remain paramount in the discharge of their duties as the regency council throughout the period without allowing any selfish interest to override the public interest.
