The novelty match was played between Aare Bakinson and Segun Odegbami football Academies in honour of the late monarch.
Speaking to newsmen after the novelty match, Chief Oluseyi Adediran reflected on the late monarch's legacy, noting that the late monarch was a passionate golfer and a member of both the Ikeja and Abeokuta Golf Clubs.
He noted that a golf competition is being planned in his memory of late Oba Olufemi Ogunleye by the Oba Matemilola Football Competition Committee.
Akinlagun praised the late monarch as an epitome of courage.
He said " Not only was Oba Ogunleye a journalist who later became a traditional ruler, but he also pursued a law degree after turning 70, attending law school alongside his grandchildren and eventually being called to the bar.
"His legal expertise was instrumental in helping resolve long-standing disputes within the Owu Kingdom, where he chaired the kingdom’s mediation centre."
Akinlagun emphasized that the youth should learn from Oba Ogunleye’s life, advising them to remain focused, determined, and have trust in God as they pursue their individual paths.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Oganla of Owu Kingdom, Chief Johnson Olufatoki, the Aare Mayegun of Owu Kingdom, Chief Olanrewaju Kazeem Bakinson, Dr. Kola Adesina, head of the family; and all the children of the late monarch.
