Speaking at a programme tagged "Dialogue With Journalists" organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ogun State on Tuesday , Senator Daniel encouraged parents to allow their children to join the forces, highlighting the benefits and opportunities it provides.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, Daniel has sponsored eleven bills, including the South West Development Commission Bill, which aims to boost the region's economy.
He also highlighted various empowerment schemes and medical initiatives that have benefited over 3,000 people in his constituency.
The Senator emphasized the importance of military service, which has produced notable leaders in politics and economy.
He urged parents to stop discouraging their children from joining the military and paramilitary services, stressing the positive impact it can have on their lives and the nation.
“As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Navy, I have seen firsthand our people’s lackadaisical approach to enlistment into this noble service.
“A lot of positive things are happening in the Nigeria Navy on a daily basis, and I want to urge parents to stop discouraging their wards from joining the military and paramilitary services" he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Union Comrade Wale Olanrewaju appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and acknowledged the support of partners and sponsors.
He also thanked the guest speaker and panelists for their expertise and insights, which he believed would enrich the understanding of the participants and inspire them to strive for excellence in their profession.
